Historical Note: Thomas Augustus Scully was born September 16, 1878, in London, England and died July 12,1961, in Chicago. He was the son of William and E. Angela Scully. Thomas was trained to takeover the management and ownership of Scully Estates. During WWI he had been an ambulancedriver. Though he was an American citizen, he spent five years in Egypt on a mission for theBritish government.He first married Isabelle Burrell Dunlop and they had four children: Sylvia I., Iris ScullyWhitfield, Sheila Scully Layton and Thomas Douglas. They divorced in 1922 with Thomas givingher a lump sum in lieu of alimony and child maintenance. The divorce of Thomas A. Scully andIsabel Burrell Dunlop was a very bitter and lengthy affair. Isabel was granted the divorce from T.A. Scully on July 2, 1921 on adultery and cruelty. His second marriage was to Violet Mary EileenIsabella Simpson in Paris, France on November 27, 1924. They had two children, Michael andPeter.
