Historical Note: Frederick Trapp was born to Albert H. Trapp and Josephine W. Michel on April 9,1851, in St. Clair County, Illinois. Frederick Trapp attended Springfield High School andgraduated in 1868. He entered the office of Robinson, Knapp & Shutt of Springfield for the studyof law in 1872 and in 1874 he passed the examination. He was in the office of Attorney Generalwhich expired in 1881. He practiced law until 1886 when he became partners with FrederickKoehnle in the management of the estate of W. Scully. He worked for Scully until his death in1906 then continued working for E. Angela Scully (he actually worked for Thomas and Frederick)until her death in 1932. In 1875, he married Emma L. Rubly and they had 5 children. He was aMason (at the time of his death he was the oldest living Past Master of the Blue Lodge of theMasonic Fraternity of Springfield) and an Elk. He was also one of the few living men who hadpersonally seen and talked with Abraham Lincoln. He died November 15, 1935.
